James Madison Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne announced the promotion of Sean O'Regan to the position of women's basketball head coach on Saturday, April 9, 2016. O'Regan previously served as associate head coach under Kenny Brooks before Brooks left for Virginia Tech on March 28.

Kayla cooper williams
Assistant Coach

Kayla Cooper Williams joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant in August 2020 prior to being promoted to Director of Player Personnel & Recruiting in July 2021. She then was named an assistant coach in July 2022.

​As the Director of Player Personnel & Recruiting, Cooper Williams broke down game film and led the administrative side of recruiting from scheduling unofficial and official visits to managing a content calendar for recruiting mailouts and graphics.

Alex tomlinson 
​assistant coach/recruiting coordinator 

Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Alex Tomlinson will enter her first season at JMU in 2024-25 after officially starting on May 17, 2024.
 
Tomlinson has heavy ties to the Commonwealth of Virginia, having previously served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Radford (2022-24) and Division III Christopher Newport (2019-2022).
 
"We are so elated to add Alex to our family," O'Regan said. "She's sharp, motivated and a rising star in this business. Most importantly, she's the right fit for what we need. She will be a great addition to our family."

nicole razor 
​assistant coach

Assistant Coach Nicole Razor will enter her first season at JMU in 2024-25 after officially starting on June 4, 2024.
 
Razor recently completed her third full season at Austin Peay where she took on director of scouting duties in addition to her co-recruiting coordinator role.
 
“Nicole won out over a lot of great candidates. A proven recruiter, she will be able to hit the ground running,” O’Regan said. “She has the right energy and she’s the right fit for what we want to do and where we want to go. She will fit very well into our family.”
